JOB SUMMARY

The Food Safety & Quality Specialist works alongside the Quality, Safety, and Operations teams to assist with and lead quality and safety projects. The individual will help lead the successful operations of Farther Farms’ French fry processing and research and development facility. This is an ideal role for someone looking to gain significant food industry experience with a young and growing company.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • A BS in Food Science, Microbiology, or an equivalent field is required;

  • Experience in quality control, quality assurance, or food development required;

  • Experience in food manufacturing preferred;

  • Knowledge of HACCP, OSHA, and GMPs preferred.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote and adhere to company safety work rules, regulations, OSHA, HAACP, and GMPs;

  • Assist with the drafting and review of policies and procedures;

  • Document and summarize experimental data and summarize in a coherent method;

  • Initiate product holds and/or disposition process as appropriate;

  • Perform required testing of products (raw & finished), recording product specifications;

  • Test run samples and perform on-line quality tests as needed;

  • Help to maintain paperwork and files to ensure accurate administration including a document control program;

  • Prepare ingredient batches for production and record appropriately;

  • Assist with the receipt of incoming materials by reviewing COA’s and properly labeling expiration and receipt dates;

  • Perform monitoring and verification activities for identified CCP’s and properly fill out associated forms;

  • Provide support for product shelf-life testing, including taste, texture, and evaluation;

  • Perform calibration of analytical equipment;

  • Aid in performing environmental monitoring swabs as needed;

  • Communicate any food safety concerns, quality problems, or changes in production and quality to appropriate personnel;

  • Conduct post-operation and/or pre-operation inspections alongside the Quality and Safety teams;

  • Attend and participate in all annual, departmental, and job specific required training and informational meetings;

  • Proactively participate in continuous improvement processes.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to wear all PPE as required by Farther Farms;

  • Ability to stand, walk, squat, and sit for long periods of time;

  • Ability to push and lift items with varying amounts of weight;

  • Ability to perform repetitive motions movements with upper extremities.
