JOB SUMMARY

The Pilot Production & Engineering Supervisor would assist in development and operations of Farther Farms’ pilot scale French fry manufacturing facility, utilizing a knowledge of people management, engineering, and food production principles.  For the right candidate, the position would have a range of responsibilities from overseeing and executing day-to-day operations of the manufacturing facility to working with the R&D and engineering teams through concept, development, and commercial-scale implementation of new products and technologies.

  • The manufacturing facility is maintained in a clean, organized, and functional state, and all food safety plans, regulations, and schedule processes are followed;

  • Through your leadership you have created a safe work environment, and prioritized a culture of growth opportunities, training, and development with your team;

  • Equipment in the operations facility is optimized, improved, and replaced as needed; downtime is minimized, and output is continually improved;

  • You flow seamlessly between the R&D lab, operations facility, food safety team, and engineering team, collaborating effectively with a holistic understanding of commercialization from bench-top to full-scale manufacturing.

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • 5+ years of engineering, food manufacturing, or related experience;

  • Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma experience in a manufacturing environment;

  • Supervisory experience, management education, and/or demonstrated planning, organizing, goal setting, controlling, self-development, decision making, and presentation skills;

  • A multidisciplinary knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and chemical engineering principles;

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.  A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.  Degree in engineering or sciences preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Production:

  • Ensure facility compliance with good manufacturing practices and safety standards;

  • Assist with the creation, planning and execution of preventative maintenance programs;

  • Assist with overseeing the maintenance, production schedules, and labor to meet production needs;

  • Assist the quality team with resolving production issues and maintaining the quality standards and production requirements;

  • Manage, coach, and provide assistance to the production staff, motivate team members, and act as a liaison between departments;

  • Assist the quality team with enforcing all food safety and quality system requirements including all pertinent regulatory, customer, and food safety requirements;

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all manufacturing operations, end-products, raw materials, packaging materials, and quality specifications and standards;

  • Prepare milestone-driven plans, timelines, and budgets to ensure a focused, streamlined execution of projects.

 

Engineering:

  • Aid in writing LOTO equipment procedures, SOPs, and SSOPs;

  • Collaborate with the Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to improve and optimize existing processes for cost, efficiency, and essential attributes in the manufacturing facility based an in-depth understanding of the company’s technology, regulation compliance, resource availability, and business strategy;

  • Assist the engineering team with ideation and design building for machinery for the production line;

  • Assist the engineering team with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative care to ensure line efficiency, improving key performance indicators to minimize down time.

 

COMPENSATION AND POSITION DETAILS

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  Compensation commensurate with experience.
