JOB SUMMARY

The Pilot Production and Commercialization Manager would assist in development, operations, and long-term commercialization of Farther Farms’ pilot scale French fry manufacturing facility, utilizing a knowledge of raw sourcing, and potato processing, and food safety principles.

  • You flow seamlessly between the R&D lab, operations facility, food safety team, and engineering team, collaborating effectively with a holistic understanding of potato process manufacturing from raw sourcing through finished goods and from concept through full-scale implementation. 

SELECTION CRITERIA

  • 5+ years of engineering, food manufacturing, or related experience;

  • Experience with raw sourcing and potatoes preferred; 

  • Supervisory experience, management education, and/or demonstrated planning, organizing, goal setting, controlling, self-development, decision making, and presentation skills;

  • A Bachelor's degree is required.  A Master’s degree or higher is preferred.  Degree in engineering, agriculture, or sciences preferred.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations, Production & Quality

  • Lead pilot facility trials and production, working alongside the engineering and food science teams to perfect product and processes;

  • Lead implementation of and ensure continued compliance to food safety plans, and regulations; reassess adequacy of HACCP Plan continually and whenever any changes occur;

  • Lead sanitation and requisite trainings;

  • Establish a safety-first culture, providing effective trainings to personnel and leading implementation of all necessary and preventative procedures;

  • Ensure pilot facility compliance with good manufacturing practices and safety standards; assist the quality team with enforcing all food safety and quality system requirements including all pertinent regulatory, customer, and food safety requirements;

  • Lead hiring, management, and training of necessary production staff;

  • Maintain a comprehensive understanding of all manufacturing operations, end-products, raw materials, packaging materials, and quality specifications and standards;

  • Assist the engineering team with equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, and preventative care to ensure line efficiency, improving key performance indicators to minimize down time;

  • Collaborate with the production, quality, and engineering teams to improve and optimize existing processes for cost, efficiency, and essential attributes in the manufacturing facility based an in-depth understanding of the company’s technology, regulation compliance, resource availability, and business strategy.

 

Commercialization

  • Assist the engineering team with ideation and design building for machinery for the production line;

  • Work alongside the food science and food safety teams on product development and refinement from bench-top to commercialization;

  • Contribute to full-scale production and expansion strategy and execution.

 

COMPENSATION AND POSITION DETAILS

This is a full-time, salaried position with benefits.  Compensation commensurate with experience.
